GOD OF FISHES

God of Fishes

(Blurb)

Detective Lockard and his foul-mouthed goldfish, Bob, must save the world from Lucifer and his demon horde. With the use of a cursed soul, Lucifer has discovered a way to make himself the only real god. One of the many Christian gods tasks Lockard with finding this soul and destroying it. Not an easy thing when he has nearly eight-billion souls to search through.

A hostage situation at a school goes badly, leaving Lockard on forced sabbatical. His career is his life. He chose it over his wives, children and friends. And now he doesn’t even have that. Bob is his sole companion in the world.

When his goldfish first speaks to Lockard, he thinks he might be losing his mind. When Bob goes on to say he’s key to stopping Lucifer unleashing literal Hell, he’s convinced of his insanity. Bob, with his dockside cursing and Boston droll, doesn’t make it any easier for Lockard to believe.

With little else to do, Lockard thinks “Fuck it” and embraces the madness. It’s only one soul out of billions he needs to find. Lucifer might have his demon boys, but Lockard’s got his talking goldfish. What’s the worst that could happen?

GOD OF FISHES is a dark fantasy novel with urban fantasy/dark comedy cross-over appeal. It started as a short story I wrote when I was 16/17 which I expanded on during NANO 2018 into a full novel and reworked 2020.
